Fireworks always look amazing and can make people feel wonderful and even hopeful. There is just something so beautiful about the fireworks. The designs and how they form and look above can make anyone gasp in amazement and their sounds make everyone look forward to the beautiful picture they would create.

Sadly, our dogs don't share the same feeling and excitement. Fireworks display or event is not something they look forward to hearing. If you have been a fur parent for a long time now, you are already aware that dogs can be so anxious, scared, and fidgety when there is a firework. So, how to calm your dog during fireworks? What are the things you can do to help your dog when there is going to be a firework display?

Prepare your dog

Hours before a firework display you can walk your dog outside. This is not only a good exercise but it might also tire your dog enough to rest early and not experience or face the whole effect or impact of the fireworks display.

Make or create a comfortable hiding place for your dog. Be sure that the area is very comfortable.


Avoid letting them see the firework

When you know your dog doesn't take it easy when he or she sees a firework display, ensure that they will not see it as much as possible. Close the windows, curtains, and doors that can make them see the fireworks going on.


Try masking the noise with others that are more acceptable 

To drown out the noise that is causing your dog to feel anxious and restless you can try to open the television or the radio. They can help lessen the noise of the firework.


Don't just give them one room to roam around

Do not confine your dog to only one room. If they want to roam around the other part of the house it is good if they are able to. Even though you created a hiding or safe place, be sure that they can still go out of it in case that they want to.


Help them see in you that there is nothing to be scared about

Act normal and not anxious or scared. When you move like you are anxious or scared your dog will more likely be anxious and scared too. Act normal and show them that there is nothing to be scared about. Seeing you all relaxed and not feeling anxiously might help your dog see that they should not be scared because you are all relaxed.

Scared or anxious dogs can immediately look for an escape once the fireworks start. So make it certain that the doors and windows are all closed.
